TICKETS FOR THE AKIMBO 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND RELEASE FOR JERSEY SHORES SHOW ARE NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE. BUY THEM HERE.
We are thrilled to finally announce, after weeks and weeks of all kinds of fickle bullshit that would give the devil a migraine, that our goddamn record release show for Jersey Shores will be happening on Saturday, Sept 27th at King Cobra on Capitol Hill.
The release of our newest album also just so happens to coincide (within a matter of days) with the first show that Nat and I ever played as Akimbo back in 1998, and I can't think of a better way to make merry than by combining the album release show with a TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY party. Yeah. Ten. Stupid but true.
Joining us on this evening will be a few special guests that are actually special, not just other bands that fit the monicker because of tardiness. HELMS ALEE will open, featuring long time flannel-wearing, beard having bro Ben Verellen of Harkonnen. They are one of our favorite bands in Seattle as of late and we're hoping we have many shows together to come. Also playing will be HARVESTMAN, the solo project of one Mr. Steve Von Till, guitar player in Neurosis and label benefactor of Neurot Recordings. To say the least, we think you'll be pleased with the opening bands.
Akimbo will be performing Jersey Shores in it's entirety. Every succulent note from start to finish. The album comes out on Sept 23rd, or you can buy it from us at the show. Both vinyl and CD will be available.
So depsite being jaded road hogs full of spite and mirth, we somehow accumulated a crew of friends through our travels. A decade will do that. The people at King Cobra were kind enough to buckle to our unsightly demands and grant us an enormous guest list, because asking your friends to pay to come to a party you're throwing for them is straight up backwards of the ass kind. The upside of that is we're hoping this is just as much a celebration with good friends as it is a show. The downside is that it minimizes the amount of tickets we have available to the public. We've never been the type of band to sell out clubs, but I say this now to anyone interested in coming: get your tickets early! We've invited a shit load of people and the available spots should be considered "effing limited bro". You've been warned.

An enthusiastic nod to our sponsors who actually played a big part in our convincing King Cobra that over half of their capacity walking in for free was a good idea:
90.3 KEXP
SOUND MAGAZINE
NEUROT RECORDINGS
PANACHE BOOKING
SOLID PR
THREE IMAGINARY GIRLS
Lastly, to our friends all over the world, the invites are on the way. If you don't get one in the next few weeks but think you probably should have, please don't be shy. We are total assholes with huge egos and we gave up your spot to shallow jerks who don't actually like us. Get in touch and yell at us. We deserve it.

"Great White Bull" off of the new record has just been thrown up on our myspace page if anyone cares to check it out. The entire album plays from start to finish as a cohesive piece of music. All individual "songs" connect to eachother seamlessly or with the aid of connecting pieces that we played live (in the studio). This is the first time we've done anything like this on a record. "Great White Bull" is an inclusive track that ties into the overall theme of the album, but also easily stands alone as it's own song. We sincerely hope you all enjoy it and can't wait for everyone to listen to the entire piece from start to finish. We've been babying this shit for a long time now and it's painful to be this close to the release!
Quick thanks to the Alternative Tentacles crew, the Great American Music Hall, and especially Jello Biafra for having us down for the Biafra 5-0. It was an honor and a blast and despite the outrageous gas prices, pummeling heat, and long long effing long hours in the van, we'd do it again in a second.
Listen to Boston. That's what you do in the summertime.

Updated the SHOWS page with details for our three day saunter down to San Francisco to play Jello Biafra's 50th birthday. We're very excited to be a part of the show. If the me of right now could go back in time to the 13 year old me listening to Dead Kennedys for the first time, and I told that me that Jello would want future me to play at his birthday party, I would have punched me in the face. The rest of our shows through Summer and into Fall have also been posted. Crazies will not be granted entrance.
Jersey Shores is still coming together. Layout is near completion and it sounds like one of the tracks got posted somewhere. See if you can find it before we officially post that shit. Your prize? Sweet golden riffs.

Updated the shows, allowing thee to project our rock schedule into the summer. We may have one or two more additions but we're planning on leaving August - September somewhat vacant...
...because that's the current estimate of when Jersey Shores will be coming out. The current quest is to finalize the art and layout for the CD and Vinyl packaging. We've been honored to have tattoo artist and bass player "talentus-extremus", Jesse Roberts, produce two original oil paintings for the record's art. They are frightening. As the release of this record approaches we're getting more and more excited. News will be strategically leaked as it is formulated, whetting your tongues and sparking your psyche.
Hmm? A tease? You want a peek at the art? Ok. Peek, my subjects. Peek.

Sadly, we must announce that the west coast dates with TURBONEGRO are canceled. Apparently they have some serious health issues going on and they have canceled the upcoming tour in the USA, so we must follow suit and stay home this April. We're really bummed about it, not being able to tour and rock with a legendary group like that, and we hope that they recover swiftly. Our hearts go out to them and their fans.
On a similar note, our good friend Mat Arluck, guitar ravager in Chicago band SWEET COBRA started radiation therapy recently. He's been out of work for a long time due to tumor-removing surgeries and it will be a while before he can start doing normal shit like going to work, not barfing, and busting phat kick flips. Click that link, listen to how awesome Sweet Cobra is, and then if you are aligned CG, NG, or LG, make a donation via paypal here: ' deminer666@yahoo.com ' so he doesn't drown under his bills while he's recovering.

In February we were lucky enough to play with Neurosis out here in Seattle. The times? They were good. Good times. Pret-tay pret-tay pret-tay good times. Neurosis blew me away. I've been a long time fan but had never seen the dragon beyond it's cave, never heard the bull roar from atop the mount, never felt the itchy kiss of that beard. Apparently, Neurosis had never seen us either (crazy!), but the smitten-ness was a two way street and the bards made merry.
AKIMBO (the good guys) will be releasing our first ever concept record on NEUROT RECORDINGS. The album is called "Jersey Shores", the concept is "nature will fuck you up", and the theme is "sharks, in particular, will totally fuck you up." The subject matter we have harvested and immersed in to forge this piece of music is actually much more robust and historical than I am letting on here, but in the interest of comedy I have decided to remain base and neanderthal. Ha.
The record is six songs, about 45 minutes long, and is an intergalactic portcullis that will unlock the secrets of time travel for the benefit of man. It was recorded in the same session as Navigating the Bronze (two albums in one session? oh yes we did) by master Chris Owens in dirty dirty dirty Louisville, KY.
Stay tuned for details. Currently we're looking at a mid - late 2008 release.
I told you we'd be dropping some serious shit.

Ladies and germs, just checking in to let you all know that life with your favorite haired drink enthusiasts will take a slight lull in 2008. We've had a very very busy few years here, as many of you know, and we're going to just kind of kick our feet up and relax for a while. Many thanks to everyone for the good times, the free beers, and just coming out to the shows.
Of course, albums are available at the Alternative Tentacles web store, and shirts can be bought online via shirtkiller in the USA and Europe.
We'll be doing a smattering of local shows in the mean time, and hopefully dropping some serious shit in the near future, but it will take some time to come together. While you're waiting, read my blog.
Listen to Jehu.
